PHOENIX (Feb. 8, 2011) — A Tucson resident claimed the eighth of 10 available $1 million top prizes in the Arizona Lottery’s $100 Million Cash Spectacular Scratchers℠ game yesterday.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was in disbelief when he realized he had a winning $1 million ticket.  His wife had to double-check the ticket to make sure it was a winner. The ticket was purchased at Circle K, located at 401 S. Alvernon Way in Tucson.

“Miracles do happen,” said the winner. “My wife and I both cried on and off all weekend. We really needed the money!”

The winner will receive the prize as a 20-year annuity and plans to use his winnings to pay off bills.

“It’s always a thrill when an Arizona Lottery player claims a Cash Spectacular Scratchers $1 million top prize,” said Jeff Hatch-Miller, executive director of the Arizona Lottery. “It is a joy knowing this win will significantly impact the couple’s life.”

$100 Million Cash Spectacular Scratchers boasts more than $100 million in cash prizes — including 10 $1 million grand prizes. In total, there are more than 4.8 million prizes ranging from $10 to $1 million, including more than 391,000 prizes from $50 to $500 and more than 5,400 prizes from $1,000 to $50,000. Two $1 million Cash Spectacular Scratchers grand prize tickets still remain.

$100 Million Cash Spectacular Scratchers tickets are available at all retailers where Lottery tickets are sold. Players must be 21 years or older to purchase or redeem tickets. $100,000 Millionaire Raffle Winner

Norman Ambrose and his wife each bought one ticket for the fifth Arizona Millionaire Raffle™.  They were both standing in line at the Valero Corner Store located at 2011 S. Ellsworth Rd. in Mesa to purchase their tickets; he was just in front of his wife.  And as it turned out, his ticket was the $100,000 winner. 

Norman and his wife have been regular Powerball® and Mega Millions® players even before they began spending their winters in Arizona.  Once they realized that they actually held a winning ticket, they began thinking about how they would use their winnings. 

Norman and his wife spend winters here in Arizona.  They spend a lot of time with their friends, occasionally hit one of the local casinos, enjoy the wonderful Arizona climate, and plan to keep playing the Lottery.

When asked if he had any advice for players, Norman said, “Treat the Lottery as entertainment.  Only spend what you can afford to lose.”
